ANCHIST 711

Topic in Roman Civilisation 1

Description

This course will focus on the changing character of warfare in Rome and Latium, from the Regal period down through the middle of the Roman Republic. It will utilise both literary sources and a wide range of archaeological material in an effort to discern not only how the various peoples of Central Italy fought, but why, and how warfare may have played a vital role in the development of early Roman and Latin society.
