Museums: Past and Present


Description

Art and other museums and art galleries as institutions from their beginnings to the present day. Examines the origins of the museum, Renaissance art collections and private museums, the emergence of the public museum, ideas about collecting and collections, recent and contemporary museums, innovation and change in museum practices and architecture.  To complete this course students must enrol on ARTHIST 718A and B.
