Beginning Modern Chinese 1

Description

This course is designed to provide basic written and spoken skills in modern standard Chinese (Mandarin, Putonghua, Guoyu, Hanyu, Huayu) and is designed for students who have no previous knowledge of the language or whose study of Chinese is very limited, normally not higher than NCEA 1. This course gradually and systematically introduces characters and grammar points with tutorials four days a week to ensure the best learning results. By the end of the course, students are expected to communicate orally in Chinese on simple topics of everyday life, to read simple texts written in Chinese characters and to write about 180 Chinese characters

Class limits information for 2018: Enrolment in CHINESE 100G Summer School is limited to 60 students. Not offered to native speakers of Chinese. First in, first enrolled.
