Beginning Modern Chinese 2

Please note: this is archived course information from 2016 for CHINESE 101.

Description

About this course

This course is a continuation of CHINESE 100. It continues to provide Chinese learners with a solid foundation in grammar, vocabulary and conversational skills in modern standard Chinese (Mandarin, Putonghua, Guoyu, Hanyu, Huayu). This course covers Chapters 10-16 of the two textbooks. By the end of the course, students are expected to recognise and write approximately 400 Chinese characters, to converse in basic language and to acquire the grammatical constructions for more advanced study.

Important information

For those of you who did not study CHINESE 100 at the University of Auckland, you must complete a Language Ability Declaration and you will be called for an interview and a placement test. Once we have determined that this course is appropriate for your proficiency level, your concession request will be approved.
