Description

This is a four-skill language course (reading, writing, speaking, listening), teaching vocabulary and structure using up-to-date methodology and multimedia materials, for beginners or near beginners. Students who have achieved 12-16 credits in Level 2 NCEA French should enrol in FRENCH 102. FRENCH 101 does not count towards a major in French.

Enrolment in FRENCH 101 in Semester One is limited to 135 students, with admission based on: 1) little or no prior knowledge of French; 2) a Language Ability Declaration; 3) first come, first enrolled. Enrolment in FRENCH 101G in Semester One is limited to 110 students, with admission based on: 1) little or no prior knowledge of French; 2) ineligibility for admission to FRENCH 102; 3) a Language Ability Declaration; 4) first come, first enrolled.
