GENDER 100

Gender and the Culture of Everyday Life

Please note: this is archived course information from 2016 for GENDER 100.

Description

Gender is a significant marker in the understanding of contemporary life and experience. This paper explores how gender is continually recreated in the course of everyday life and the ways in which it intersects with class, race, sexuality, age and ability that contribute to the diversity of women’s experiences.

Using the methodologies of women’s, gender and feminist studies, students will begin with some fundamental concepts and then work through topics about the way in which being gender is produced and reproduced in the contemporary world.
