ANTHRO 768
Anthropology of Markets
Description
The market is one of the dominant tropes of our time. A great variety of human behaviour is conceived in terms of market principles and forces. This course examines anthropological studies of markets, both cross-culturally and in relation to various types of capitalist markets. The course elucidates the cultural and historical specificity of taken-for-granted contemporary conceptualisations of markets.
