Early Rome

Description

This course will explore the origins of Rome, from the settlement’s beginnings in the late Bronze Age down through the early Republic. Using both literary sources and a wide range of archaeological material, it will touch on topics like the Etruscans and Roman expansion and state formation, as well as show how and why various modern scholars have constructed different (and sometimes contradictory) models of Rome’s early development.
