Sources and Approaches for the Ancient World

Description

This course will utilise both archaeology and literary evidence to explore issues of cultural identity in the ancient world.

Focusing specifically on the development of, and interplay between, various ancient cultures in a Roman context, it will explore issues such as the nature of Roman expansion, the workings of empire, the place of the army in society, literary approaches to Roman identity, the role of religion and the failure of empire.

 

To complete this course students must enrol in ANCHIST 750 A and B.
