Archaeological Science

Description

Archaeology uses a great number of scientific methods. This lab course introduces the application of these techniques. Using the resources found in our laboratories, topics covered include geophysical subsurface prospecting, dating, identifying the origin of archaeological material using petrography and geochemistry, residue analysis, ceramic and stone artefact production, and the study of archaeological sediments. Coursework includes a series of hands-on laboratories.
