Coming of the Māori: Archaeology of Aotearoa (New Zealand)


Description

Examines the first 600-700 years of human settlement in Aotearoa/New Zealand from an archaeological perspective, from polynesian arrival through the early historic period. Themes include Maori origins in East Polynesia, adaptations to Aotearoa's temperate environment, changing patterns of resource use, Maori material culture and arts, the development of fortified sites or pa and the emergence of classic Maori society.
