During the course, we will analyse literary and artistic representations of space, examine ancient knowledge of the physical world, and explore how ancient ideas about space differed from ours.
Themes explored include mapping, travel and transport, the urban/rural divide, provincial and exilic identity, mythical geography and space in epic poetry.
