Description

Addresses the rapidly developing genre called ‘Reality TV’, which broadly includes all programmes that train cameras on non-actors in situations that capture or simulate ‘real life’. Covers the major Reality TV subgenres, including real-crime, docusoaps, gamedocs, makeover, social experiment and love/dating shows in the US, UK, Australia and New Zealand. Concepts to be discussed include ordinariness and everyday life, surveillance and confession, voyeurism and the gaze, taste and consumerism, affect and intimacy.
