Directed research on an assigned topic. The first three weeks of the course will concentrate on preparatory issues, including the purpose of research, the formulation of a viable research proposal and the identification of methodological issues. In weeks four to six, students will select individual research topics/questions and will develop these through group supervision in discussion with staff and fellow students. In the second half of the course, students will receive individual supervision and give an oral presentation as they research and write a 10,000 word essay. This is a required course for all BA(Hons) students in Film, Television and Media Studies.
