Pacific History: An Introduction

Description
This course is an introductory course to the history of the Pacific and its peoples. It surveys the major changes in Pacific lives in the past three hundred years, and focuses on some topics of particular importance: indigenous politics, colonialism, cultural, religious and social change, conflict and twentieth century Pacific migrations. Emphasis is placed on developing critical thinking and historical research skills, and students will contribute to ongoing historical research.
