Description
This second-year language course follows and builds on the first-year courses ITALIAN 106 and 107, seeking a balance between the communicative and structural elements of language learning. It aims to build your proficiency in the main skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing and to expand your cultural knowledge of contemporary Italy through a wide range of authentic material (articles, statistics, music, video clips, news).
The course is divided into thematic units (the Italian school system; the Italian economy; Italian cities; Italian history; sport and wellness in Italy) which will help you to increase your language proficiency, as well as learn about important topics in contemporary Italy.
Objectives
With successful completion of this course you will have the opportunity to:
- Acquire intermediate knowledge of the Italian language and apply it to everyday situations
- Understand and carry out practical skills, like communicating in Italian for touristic purposes
- Acquire skills in essay writing, report writing, oral presentation in Italian
