A study of the origins, development and influences on English until around 1500.

Course outcomes

At the completion of this course you will be acquainted with

  • The origin and development of English up to 1500
  • The major external influences on English up to1500
  • English in particular detail between the years 1100 - 1500 (Middle English)
  • Middle English language and dialect
  • Middle English literature and contemporary culture
  • Research methodology and the presentation of a Middle English manuscript
