Kapa Haka 1

Description

An introductory course for beginners or others who have only a minimal knowledge of traditional and contemporary Māori performing arts. The course is strongly practical. It will stress the fundamentals of performance and the various social, cultural and political settings that give it meaning.

"I had the amazing opportunity to take a Kapa Haka paper while at Auckland Uni... if you can, I HIGHLY recommend taking it yourself. It is the most beautiful, intricate and empowering course of my academic career. It's a great way to learn about the Maori culture from a dance perspective and so much fun..." - Claire Hurd, Study Abroad student
