PHIL 765
Special Topic: Science, Religion and Atheism
Please note: this is archived course information from 2012 for PHIL 765.
Description
What is atheism? What bearing does atheism have on science and religion? The course will discuss issues of respect, tolerance and secularism, and investigate the ways in which science (e.g., Freudian psychology, the theory of evolution) explains why we have religious beliefs. Arguments for the existence of God will not be discussed but supernaturalism versus scientific naturalism will be investigated.
