Advanced Interpreting Practice - Chinese


Description

This course provides in-depth and systematic training in the field of community, or public-service interpreting. We will focus on general interpreting skills, including memory training, note-taking and public speaking for interpreters working in legal, medical, business and other social settings.

This very practice-oriented course will be based on dialogues and short discourse passages on related topics. We will use bi-directional interpreting in both liaison and consecutive interpreting modes. Course contents will be aimed at improving of interpreting efficiency, information processing capacities and problem-solving strategies. Students will also be introduced to the professional and ethical duties of community interpreters.
