The Arcade

A series of arches in a row is called an arcade and can be used to support the fabric of a wall. In such a series, the weight of each arch is countered by the one next to it.

Keeping in mind what you learnt about the weight thrust of arches on the previous page, click on the diagram below where you think the stresses would fall. Arrows will appear when you're right.
